Through the process of making anything there will always be an element of waste, and ceramics is far from the exception. There are pieces that just don't work out, and there is clay that comes off while throwing, etc. Until a piece is fired in a kiln the clay is recyclable, though it tends to be harder to work with than the fresh stuff. The way I solve this problem is mixing my recycled scraps with fresh clay, and marbling it together on the wheel. It's a lot of fun getting to see the randomness that shows up, and I really wanted to celebrate that variation in the mugs by limiting the glaze.
This listing is for the more middle size mugs, typically around 12-14oz. This is the size most people like for a cup of regular coffee, but also some lattes and flavored drinks.
